Researchers find evidence: Ancient China discovered America thousands of years before Columbus

It appears that after all, we have history all wrong. Mainstream history and archaeology can try to deny these facts as much as they want, but eventually, things will change and people will open their eyes to new possibilities.

According to a new study, researchers believe that the ancient Chinese discovered the American continent 2000 years before Christopher Colombus.

Trade between Eastern parts of Asia and the New World is believed to have taken place much before Christopher Columbus arrived to the “New World” changing history books .

He-bases-his-theory-on-an-alleged-18th-century-copy-of-a-1418-map-charted-by-Chinese-Admiral-Zheng-580x385

The group of researchers have discovered, in Alaska, a dozen of Bronze artifacts that dramatically disprove the usual version that we have been thought in school: that it was Christopher Columbus who discovered the American Continent.

Before Christopher Columbus reached the New World in 1492 other adventurers had already stepped on American soil. Their “fingerprints” were discovered by a group of American archeologists excavating in Alaska, finding several artifacts including a buckle and a bronze whistle.

Now, researchers propose several new theories that can change history as we have been thought in school. Long before the arrival of Spaniards, the Native Americans were in contact with other great cultures which include: China, Korea and the region of Yakutia, Russia. These exchanges would have taken place 2,600 years ago, marking the date of Columbus’ arrival as something ordinary and not as a historical date like we have been told in history class.

Researchers say that, the region of North America where these artifacts were found, techniques of obtaining such an alloy were unknown in that time of history, so the scientists conclude, their origin would come from East Asia. It is assumed that trade would have been established through the Bering Strait when it was frozen.

“The traditional story of Columbus and the discovery of the New World is an absolute fantasy, a fairy tales” said Gavin Menzies in an interview with Mail Online.

Some researchers believe that the first inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere came overland from the Bering Strait, but it was the Chinese sailors who first crossed the Pacific Ocean 40 000 years ago.

Experts also believe they have found a much deeper connecting between American natives and Asian inhabitants pointing towards the discovery of DNA markers that show that American Indians and other natives are descendants of several Asian cultures.

Most scientists believe that humans arrived in the New World 15,000 years, however, a recent genetic study suggests that Asian travels set foot on the New world much before that.

These discoveries can turn out to be radical when it comes to history. The question is, when will we start looking at thing from another perspective. Apparently history has been taught to new generations completely wrong.

We have known for years that human beings inhabited Earth much earlier than science and history tell us, we have also learned that ancient civilizations were extremely intelligent, possessing technologies that we today cannot understand, and now we have been told that some parts of our planet have been discovered thousands of years before than history books have it recorded.

The Lost Forest World of the World’s Largest Cave Discovered!

4-2

The Lost Forest World of the World’s Largest Cave

In this technologically advanced age of Google Earth and ever expanding exploration of our planet, there are fewer and fewer places that remain hidden from the gaze of humankind. We are exploring the forests, mountains, and seas of the world at an ever growing pace, and the ancient places that once lied in pristine remoteness beyond our grasp are being uncovered for all to see. But what of under our feet? What of the lost realms of the deep places of the world? In the case on one massive cave in Vietnam, a lost, prehistoric world sat hidden for millions of years deep under the forest floor until pure happenstance started our first steps into a place that time forgot.

In 1991, a local farmer by the name of Ho Khanh was walking along a stretch of lush forest within the heart of the Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh province, near the border between Laos and Vietnam. It was an area that he had passed many times before and he was not paying any particular attention to his surroundings when suddenly the jungle floor opened up beneath him and Mr. Khanh only barely managed to hold on as the ground crumbled beneath him. When he was able to get his bearings, he peered into the gaping chasm that had suddenly appeared out of the thick foliage and saw that there was now a steep drop where he had stood that descended down into darkness. By pure chance and blind luck, this man had discovered an entrance that had remained hidden from man for millions of years into what would turn out to be the largest cave in the world, a behemoth five times larger than the largest known cave at the time.

World's largest cave.

For years the entrance remained unexplored. Locals were afraid to go near it, partly because of the dauntingly steep drop, and partly because of the strange roaring sounds that bellowed out from its depths, later found to be caused by a raging river far below. In addition, there was an eerie mist that seeped out of the cave, a phenomenon caused by the cooler air below meeting the hot jungle air above, which gave the area a surreal, unearthly atmosphere. All of these things conspired to deter the superstitious locals from entering, and so the cave mouth remained unexplored and untouched, just as it had been for countless millennia.

It was not until 2009 that members of the British Cave Research Association undertook an expedition to penetrate into the mysterious jungle cavern and explore the darkness below. By that time the man who originally had found it no longer even remembered exactly where it was, so the team had to ascertain its position from what he could recall and from other locals, who still feared it. It was to be the beginning of a breathtaking journey into an ancient, forgotten realm that no human being had ever set foot in.

Son Doong Cave

The expedition, led by Howard and Deb Limbert, began their descent in April of 2009. The first thing that became quickly apparent was the sheer, enormous scale of the place. Using ropes and harnesses, the team rappelled down a 260 foot vertical drop before they finally reached the bottom, where the thick, absolute silence of the place was said to be almost deafening. An investigation of the surroundings showed that the cave was largely formed of limestone, which had been eroded from under the Annamite Mountains of Vietnam between 2 to 5 million years ago. Upon reaching the bottom, the team did not get far before they came up against a 200 foot wall of muddy calcite, which they called “The Great Wall of Vietnam,” that prevented any further progress.

In 2010, the frustrated team was finally able to traverse the enormous wall and continue their journey. What they found within thoroughly amazed all present; an alien world the likes of which none of the experienced cavers had ever seen. The cave, now known as Son Doong Cave, or “the cave of the mountain river” was far larger than anyone had ever imagined. The largest cavern stretched for over 5 km (about 3 miles), was 650 feet wide, and had walls that soared upwards over 200 m (656 feet), high enough to comfortably fit a modern day skyscraper.

Son Doong Cave. That little speck with the light is a person.

Jutting from this immense cavern were stalagmites and stalactites that were up to 80 meters (265 ft) long, some of the largest in the world. Along the Great Wall of Vietnam were scattered abnormally huge “cave pearls” as big as baseballs, which are formed when dripping water forms layers of calcite around grains of sand over hundreds of years. There were also various rimstone pools dotting the cavern and even a lake. Throughout this mystical landscape meandered a river that ran the length of the cavern and disappeared into the unknown darkness of other caves that branched off from the main one. In all, it was found that the main cavern branched out into a network of over 150 individual, interconnected caves.

The biggest surprise to be found here was a massive forest growing undisturbed deep in the heart of the cavern among the stalagmites and stalactites, a feature not normally associated with the subterranean recesses of caves. Sections of the cavern’s ceiling had eroded away over millennia and collapsed, becoming gigantic windows that allowed columns of sunlight to penetrate into the darkness, illuminating a huge section of the cave and allowing ancient trees up to 30 m high (100 feet) to thrive here. This lush vegetation that blanketed the cave floor thrummed with life, hosting a plethora of wildlife from the outside world, including insects, rare birds such as the chestnut-necklaced partridge and the short-tailed scimitar babbler, snakes, lizards, monkeys, bats, flying foxes, and numerous species of butterfly, as well as an unknown number of as yet undiscovered new species.

The Jungle of Son Doong cave.

Currently, Son Doong cave is recognized as being the world’s largest cave by far, much larger than the previous title holder, Malaysia’s Deer Cave. The main cavern is so large that it has its own climate, and clouds have even been known to form within it. It is massive enough to house an entire city block, high enough to hold 40 story high skyscrapers, and those who have been here describe being truly humbled by the sheer scale of this place.

The lost world of Son Doong cave still has its mysteries, and much of the cave system remains unexplored. Perhaps one of the most exciting areas of further exploration lies in the prospect of finding new species of plants and animals here. The animals of the cave can generally be categorized into two types; those that live in the forested area and those that dwell in the inky black recesses of the enclosed areas. Already several new species have been discovered here, including several species of plant and insect, as well as a new type of gecko, a tree frog, and a striped hare. Since only a very few expeditions have attempted to catalog species within the cave, there are undoubtedly more to be found. There have been several species that have been spotted that have not been identified as of yet, including a possibly new type of monkey, and mysterious creatures have been seen skittering through cave passages and even swimming through the river and lake here. One of the only scientists to have studied the dark interior passages of the cave, German biologist Anette Becher, described spotting a myriad of as yet unknown fish, insects, and millipedes within the gloom, many of them albino and sightless. It seems that we are only beginning to scratch the surface of the biodiversity that may lie here waiting to be discovered.

Part of Son Doong's forest

Other mysteries of Son Doong cave include the source of the underground river that runs through the cave and an only recently discovered side cave that is full of rare and undescribed fossils, many of them very large and some of them dated as being around 300 million years old. The original team to explore Son Doong has plans to launch another extensive expedition in order to further investigate the many mysteries of the caves.

In 2013, the first steps towards opening the lost world of Son Doong began when the tour company Oxalis began offering adventurous souls the chance to spend several days camping and exploring within the cave’s massive interior. The first expeditions are pilot tours, with the company planning to expand the tours in the future. The excursions are not for the faint of heart. In order to reach the cave, one must trek through remote jungle wilderness to the entrance of the cave, upon which a several hundred foot sheer vertical drop awaits. Only after after rappelling down the perilous face of the cliff will one finally be able to look upon this vast, mysterious world. Those who have seen the cave say that the sheer scale of the it is hard to comprehend without seeing it in person, and that it is difficult to describe in words how humbling and awe inspiring the experience is.

Rappelling into Son Doong

With tours such as this underway and yet more to be planned, it seems that just as with other lost and hidden places of the world, the caves of Son Doong too will have there mysteries slowly peeled away for all to see. For now, though, it is still a place of wonder and awe, and is still largely unexplored. What lies here awaiting to be discovered in the gargantuan cave’s many dark passages and within the ancient trees of  its misty, sun pierced subterranean forests? There is much left to learn about this vast, lost cave world, and much exploration left to do before we even begin to fully understand this fascinating natural wonder. Son Doong has not given up all of its mysteries just yet.

The discovery of Son Doong also poses another question. What other lost places remain out there for us to find? It is exciting to think that right here on our own planet there may be whole new vast, alien realms, even new ecosystems, hidden away from us, waiting to be discovered. Or perhaps maybe they will never be discovered, and will remain untouched by human hands as they have for millions of years and will for millions more. Whatever the case may be, even as the modern world seems to become ever smaller, it appears that there are still surprises locked away within this planet of ours.

Mysterious Lake Appears In The Middle Of The Desert Without Explanation

photo credit: Tunisia Daily. This lake may be dangerous, and it’s origins unknown, but when the heat is high enough people will swim.

Siberia has suddenly appearing holes, but Tunisia seems to be getting the better end of the bargain – a lake that has arrived as if from nowhere in the middle of a hot dry summer.

The lake is just over a hectare in size and 10-18m deep. It is presumed that a small earthquake fractured a natural dam holding an artificial reservoir allowing the water to reach the surface. However, the aquifer has not been found – the theory relies more on the absence of other credible explanations than anything else.

Like the Siberian holes, the exact date of the lake’s formation is not known, since this part of southern Tunisia is so sparsely populated the lake could have been there for weeks or months without being noticed. It came to the attention of local shepherds three weeks ago, but only hit the international media in the last few days.

Now that is has been found, people have flooded to what has been named Gafsa Beach to swim, despite warnings that the water has potentially poisonous algae in it, and may be radioactive from nearby phosphate mines. Phosphate deposits often occur in conjunction with uranium and thorium, which can be released into groundwater by mining. The color change from clear blue to murky green has not helped these fears.

The lake is not far north of the area where much of the original Star Wars was filmed, with a similar climate. While water is certainly not as scarce as on Tataouine (named after one of the nearby towns) Tunisia is experiencing a drought, making the usual desert conditions around the new lake particularly dry.

Two More Mysterious Siberian Craters Discovered

photo credit: Newly discovered crater in the Taymyr Peninsula. Credit: Local residents via The Siberian Times

A couple weeks ago, scientists were made aware of a massive crater in the permafrost of Yamal, Siberia. They’re currently analyzing the crater to understand the origins of the 30-meter-wide hole, but no definitive cause has been identified. Curiouser and curiouser, two new smaller craters have been discovered that seem to have arisen under similarly mysterious conditions. The Siberian Times reports that one of the craters is also located in Yamal and the other is to the east in the Taymyr Peninsula.

The second Yamal crater is about 15 meters wide and has a small icy lake at the bottom. Unlike the original crater, there were witnesses when this was formed on September 27, 2013, although there is some discrepancy about what happened. Some local residents claim the ground began smoking and then a huge flash of light appeared, while others believe it was caused by a meteorite.

The Taymyr crater was accidentally discovered by herders who nearly fell into it, and there are no eyewitness accounts of how it came to be. It is shaped like a slender cone, with the opening at 4 meters in diameter and reaching depths of 60-100 meters. Scientists aren’t sure what would cause this perfect cone shape, as it doesn’t overtly appear to be manmade or naturally occurring.

Cone-shaped crater in the Taymyr Peninsula. Image credit: Local Residents via The Siberian Times

The original crater set the internet on fire with possible explanations of its origins, including weapons testing, meteorites, and even alien activity. One leading hypothesis involves an explosion of gas that had been trapped underground in the permafrost, especially given its proximity to the largest natural gas reserve in Siberia. The thawing ground would have warmed the methane, increasing pressure until it popped like a cork.

As this area has been particularly affected by climate change and is warmer than it has been in 120,000 years. The rampant thawing may have caused a large pingo, in which frozen ground begins to push up to the surface. As the ground thawed, the pingo could have collapsed, forming the deep hole with water at the bottom. While some preliminary analysis has been completed, scientists won’t speculate on a cause until more study has been completed. Unfortunately, the Arctic is so remote that large portions of it have not been well studied.

If climate change really is the driving force behind these mysterious craters, they could very well happen more frequently. Researchers might be able to predict if/when another crater explosion is likely to appear if they are able to determine a definitive cause. This could be important in protecting people and property in the area.

Origins Of Mysterious World Trade Center Ship Determined

photo credit: Lower Manhatten Development Corporation. The partial hull of a ship found in excavating the World Trade Center site.

A remarkable piece of scientific detective work has revealed the wooden ship found beneath the wreckage of the World Trade Center was built just before, or during, the American War of Independence. Even the location where the wood was grown appears to have been settled.

In 2010, when digging the foundations for the buildings that will replace the twin towers, workers found a 9.75m long oaken partial hull 7m below what is now street level. Hickory in the keel indicated the ship was almost certainly of North American origin, but its age and specific place of construction were initially a mystery.

Isotopic dating isn’t precise enough to tell us the age of the wood from which the ship is made, so instead researchers from Columbia University used the tree rings. As they report in probably the most attention grabbing story ever published in Tree-Ring Research the rings in timber from different parts of the ship were found to be highly similar.

Lower Manhatten Development Corporation Via Columbia University. The rings in the white oak of the ship’s hull reveal the seasons in which the timber grew.

Since the width of tree rings depends on the weather that season, trees growing nearby tend to have  ring patterns that match each other fairly closely.  When compared to 21 trees of the same species (white oak, Quercus Leucobalanus) from the eastern American seaboard team, led by Dr Dario Martin-Benito, found exceptionally good matches to those from the Keystone State.

“Our results showed the highest agreement between the WTC ship chronology and two chronologies from Philadelphia and eastern Pennsylvania,” the paper reports. The last rings indicate the ship was built from trees felled in 1773, confirming previous theories.

While the ship has potential to provide insight into construction of the day, the authors note “idiosyncratic aspects of the vessel’s construction [indicate] that the ship was the product of a small shipyard.”

“Philadelphia was one of the most — if not the most — important shipbuilding cities in the U.S. at the time. And they had plenty of wood so it made lots of sense that the wood could come from there,” Martin-Benito told Livescience

The wood has previously been found to have been infested with Lyrodus pedicellatus, indicating a trip to the Caribbean at some point. This infestation with shipworm may have led to its  premature demise, possibly being used as a sort of reclamation process to bolster Manhattan’s defenses against the sea.

Although considered part of the World Trade Center site, the location of the ship was not excavated when the original towers were built.

(Reuters) – Authorities have lost contact with an Air Algerie flight en route from Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso to Algiers with 110 passengers on board, Algeria’s APS state news agency and a Spanish airline company said on Thursday.

APS said authorities lost contact with flight AH 5017 an hour after it took off from Burkina Faso, although other officials gave other timings, adding to confusion about the fate of the flight and where it might be.

Spanish private airline company Swiftair confirmed it had no contact with its MD-83 aircraft operated by Air Algerie, which it said was carrying 110 passengers and six crew.

The company said in a notice posted on its website that the aircraft took off from Burkina Faso at 0117 GMT (2117 ET) and was supposed to land in Algiers at 0510 GMT but never reached its destination.

An Algerian aviation official said the last contact Algerian authorities had with a missing Air Algerie aircraft carrying 116 people from Burkina Faso to Algiers was at 0155 GMT when it was flying over Gao, Mali.

Aviation authorities in Burkina say they handed the flight to the control tower in Niamey, Niger, at 1:38 am (0138 GMT). They said last contact with the flight was just after 4:30 a.m. (0330 GMT).

Burkinabe authorities have set up a crisis unit in Ouagadougou airport to provide information to families of people on the flight.

A diplomat in the Malian capital Bamako said that the north of the country – which lies on the plane’s likely flight path – was struck by a powerful sandstorm overnight.

Issa Saly Maiga, head of Mali’s National Civil Aviation Agency, said that a search was under way for the missing flight.

“We do not know if the plane is Malian territory,” he told Reuters. “Aviation authorities are mobilized in all the countries concerned – Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Algeria and even Spain.”

Whatever is the fate of the flight, the loss of contact is likely to add the to jitters in the airline industry after a Malaysia Airlines plane was downed over Ukraine last week, a TransAsia Airways crashed off Taiwan during a thunderstorm on Wednesday and airlines canceled flights into Tel Aviv due to the conflict in Gaza.

Russian scientists got their first look inside the mysterious crater in Yamal, Siberia on Wednesday, July 16, while the Siberian Times took a helicopter ride to get another look down into the hole.

Based off of the original video of the crater, it was estimated that the crater could have been up to 80 meters wide. However, Andrey Plekhanov of the State Scientific Centre of Arctic Research told The Siberian Times that the hole is about 30 meters wide and the outer portion that includes the soil emission is around 60 meters in diameter. The researchers were also able to get their first look at the icy lake that exists at the bottom of the 70-meters-deep hole. Soil, air, and water samples have been taken in order to help determine the cause.

Preliminary results indicate that the hole was formed within the last two years and satellite data is being examined to try and identify exactly when it first appeared. Plekhanov told the Siberian Times that it was an ejection from within the permafrost, but it was not an explosion as there was not a release of heat.

Some had initially speculated that natural gas had been trapped underground in ice, as the area had been locked in permafrost for thousands of years. However, as the ground thawed and the gas became warmer, the increased pressure may have ejected outward and caused the hole. The summers of 2012 and 2013 were especially warm in the region, but the researchers still have more work to do before naming a specific cause.

While the world waits for the samples to be processed and analyzed, please enjoy this video that gives a closer look at this mysterious formation:

NEPAL: FROZEN CAVEMAN DISCOVERED IN HIMALAYA

Pokhara| A group of climbers on an expedition in the Himalaya Mountains, have stumbled upon a complexe of caverns that seem to have recently surfaced after a series of violent avalanches in the region. Inside one of the caves, the team of Norwegian and Swedish mountaineers, found the remains of a humanoid male from the paleolithic era.

According to the primary analysis of the skeleton, it seems the bones belong to an adult male Homo habilis, which is believed to have lived from approximately 2.33 to 1.44 million years ago, during the Gelasian Pleistocene period. Further tests and analysis will be done to determine the exact nature of the remains, their age, and the individual’s cause of death. A crude stone spear and a few badly damaged leather objects were also recovered on the site and are currently being studied.

According to some experts, this could be by far the oldest sign of human life ever found in the region, dating possibly millions of years.  Others seem to believe that the man was part of a small group that long-outlived the extinction of the majority of his species. Whatever the results of the carbon dating test, this opens a whole new interpretation of generally accepted views of the colonization of the planet by the human species. According to most widely accepted theories on the subject, Homo habilis isn’t normally believed to have travelled this far from Africa and lived in such hostile climates.

The remains of the man seem extremely well preserved considering their age, a miracle due to to the very constant and extremely cold temperature of the area, that would have kept his body constantly covered in ice for milleniums. They were discovered in a large cave, part of of a complexe of at least 65 separates cavities of varying sizes, that could have been a prehistoric settlement. A thorough search of the site could reveal many more artefacts and possibly other human and animal remains, but unfortunately the hostility of the climatic conditions and the remoteness of its location will certainly pose a lot of logistic and organizational problems for the preparation of a scientific expedition.
